May Reading Wrap-Up | 2025
I ended up reading seven books during the month of May, and all of them except for one ended up being a thriller/horror book. I definitely entered my summerween era a bit early, but I’m not mad about it!
The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers
I’m a dedicated crime junkie, so this was an immediate must read for me! This had tons of twists and turns, with an ending that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see what Ashley Flowers does next!

Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito
This was one of my most anticipated horror reads of 2025 and it did not disappoint! This had gothic vibes and tons of super gruesome parts. I devoured it in one day!

They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
This was the only graphic novel/book that wasn’t a horror/thriller that I read in May. This was such an emotional read, especially right now.
“Years later, the trauma of those experiences continued to haunt me. Most Japanese Americans from my parents’ generation didn’t like to talk about the internment with their children. As with many traumatic experiences, they were anguished by their memories and haunted by shame for something that wasn’t their fault. Shame is a cruel thing. It should rest on the perpetrators, but they don’t carry it the way the victims do.”

Clown in a Cornfield 1-3 by Adam Cesare
I read the entire Clown in a Cornfield series in preparation for the movie coming out. Clown in a Cornfield (5 stars) will definitely be one that I pick up again. It was the perfect teen slasher book. Clown in a Cornfield 2: Frendo Lives (3.5 stars) was my least favorite of the series, but still gave me all of the summerween vibes I was looking for. The Church of Frendo (4 stars) gave the perfect mix or summer slasher and cult vibes. So good!

When Devils Sing by Xan Kaur
I found this book through the authors profile on TikTok and immediately added it to my TBR! It’s a gothic mystery with horror and fantasy elements, and I ate it up! I thought it was a great debut novel and I can’t wait to see what the author does next!
