January Reading Wrap-Up | 2024

January always seems to be a great reading month for me! I normally save books from favorite authors to read at the beginning of the year so I can start off on the right foot. Seanan McGuire also releases the newest Wayward Children Series book at the beginning of January, and I’m always super excited to get my hands on that!

I ended up reading 8 books in January, with three of them being rereads in preparation for the release of House of Flame and Shadow. All of them ended up being 4 and 5 star reads! You can following me on Goodreads or Storygraph to keep up with all of my reading and ratings.

Mislaid in Parts Half-Known by Seanan McGuire

The Wayward Children series is one of my favorite portal fantasy series, so I always look forward to the new one that comes out in January! I absolutely loved this one. It made me laugh and cry, and I loved getting to revisit some of my favorite characters!

Only and Forever by Chloe Liese

First off, I’m so sad that this is the last Bergman Brothers book! I have loved every single book in this series, and appreciate all of the amazing representation in every book. Chloe Liese ended the series with a perfect book, and I gave this one all the stars! Viggo and Tallulah have my heart forever!

The Fury by Alex Michaelides

I feel like this one has gotten some mixed reviews since it came out, but I really enjoyed it! It gave me “having a a drink and gossiping with your friend” vibes. I literally couldn’t put this one down. I listened to the audiobook one in one day!

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (Reread)

This was a reread, but I enjoyed it more the second time around than I did the first time that I read it. This book is very world-building heavy at the beginning, so the first time I read it I was a bit overwhelmed. I had a blast with it this time though!

House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas (Reread)

Just like the first book, I enjoyed this one more the second time around. I even bumped up my rating from last year! Ruhn made me love this book!

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace

I didn’t know exactly what yo expect going into this one, but I loved all of the gothic and paranormal vibes! I also enjoyed the mystery that the FMC was trying to solve, and I didn’t see the ending coming! I’m looking forward to reading the second one soon.

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas (Reread)

I FINALLY did a reread of my favorite Sarah J. Maas book! I’m a Nesta and Cassian lover to my core, and just like when I read it the first time I cried my little eyes out during multiple parts. The mental health/trauma journey in this gets me every time.

House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN: HER. My most anticipated read of the year did NOT disappoint. I finished this massive book in 48 hours, and I have so much to say, but I’m going to keep all of my thoughts to myself until more people finish it. This is 100% my favorite book in the Crescent City series!
