Currently Loving | Lifestyle, Seasonal, and more! – October 2021

Spooky season is almost over, and I spent a ton of my free time reading and listening to podcasts, having movie nights, and enjoying the few days of true fall weather we had here on the coast of NC. To end October, I’m going to do a quick wrap-up of all of my current favorites!

Lifestyle & Beauty

Plum Paper Daily A5 Planner: If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with my planners! Right now my lineup consists of a vertical weekly planner and a daily A5 planner from Plum Paper for on the go and work. This is my first time using a daily planner, and it’s safe to say it’ll be in my routine from here on out! Plum Paper planners are also super customizable, and the paper feels incredible.

Airpod Pro: My husband bought me some Airpod Pros a few weeks ago because I’m always using headphones. I’m constantly listening to audiobooks, podcasts, or music while I’m at home or work, and these are so much better than my other Bluetooth headphones! They’re well worth the investment if you use your headphones as much as I do!

My Home Office: We moved into a new apartment halfway through September, and we’re finally 100% settled (besides hanging up some wall decor and organizing). My favorite part about our new place is my home office/library! After having my desk in our bedroom for over two years, it’s nice to have my own space again. Once I finish decorating I’ll be showing you a full office reveal!

Buff City Soap: Last month a Buff City Soap opened in Wilmington, and I’ve already been twice! We finally have a bathtub again, and we were dying to get our hands on some bath bombs. The BCS bath bombs smell amazing and are super moisturizing! We also love the soaps and laundry detergent. I can’t wait to try more!

Dashing Diva Nail Strips: I’ve been obsessed with these nail strips for well over a year now! They stay on my nails for up to two weeks, give me a clean at-home mani, and come in a ton of fun prints and colors! They also do seasonal sets, which are some of my favorite sets that I’ve used!

Seasonal

Safe + Fair Granola: Since going gluten-free back in July, Safe + Fair has been one of my go-to’s for snacks! I have several bags of their granola in my pantry at all times. I put it on yogurt, add it to oatmeal, and just snack on it if I want something sweet. It’s a must-try if you’re dairy or gluten-free!

Fall Wax Melts from Candles, Etc.: This place is local to Wilmington, but they have an online shop and ship anywhere! We always take a trip to buy new wax melts and candles at the beginning of every season. This fall we purchased banana nut bread, coffee downtown, pumpkin spice latte, toasted marshmallow, and twilight mist!

Fall & Halloween Ambiance: I love a good ambiance video for when I’m cleaning, relaxing, working, and decorating for a new season. My current favorites are Ravenclaw Common Room, Cozy Fall Coffee Shop Ambiance, and The Spirit of Fall.

Books

The Girl Who Drank The Moon: This book is an easy middle-grade read with a ton of whimsy, witchy magic, and a cute tiny dragon named Fyrian (who happens to be one of my favorite parts of the book). This book was perfect for this time of year, and one of my favorite reads of 2021 so far!

The Final Girl Support Group: This book is also perfect for this time of year, but unlike the other book this one is for horror and thriller lovers. It was a great option for a Halloween read! I’m only halfway through this one, but I can’t put it down!

Movies, Podcasts, Etc.

Drama Queens Podcast: OTH fans, you need this podcast in your life! I absolutely adore Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Hilarie Burton.

I Am All In Podcast: Gilmore Girls lovers (hi, hello, that’s me), this podcast is everything!

Bridgerton: Official Playlist: My go-to playlist for when I’m working and really need to concentrate. The music from the Bridgerton soundtrack is absolutely beautiful.

Weekends in Wilmy: A Vacation with My Mom & Sister

Weekends in Wilmy: A Vacation with My Mom & Sister

Last week my sister and mom flew in for a much needed vacation! We haven’t seen them since before the pandemic (aside from a funeral last month), and we couldn’t wait to show my mom around Wilmy for the first time!

Day 1: Fort Fisher Aquarium and an evening walk on the beach

The beach is obviously a big must when you come to Wilmington, but another favorite of ours is the Fort Fisher Aquarium! We’ve been several times and it’s one of our favorite attractions in the area. We even got to pet a sea turtle during this trip!

Day 2: Shopping & Slice of Life for Dinner

Wilmington has several malls and shopping centers, and tons of small businesses. On day two we took a trip to Mayfaire for some book shopping. We also stopped by World Market before leaving! We grabbed pizza and nachos from Slice of Life for dinner. The vegan pizza and the steak nachos are the bomb by the way! Slice is one of my favorite places to eat here!

Day 3: Beach Day

Sunscreen. Snacks. Sun. Sand. Sea… Need I say more?!

Day 4: Downtown Wilmington

If you’re ever in the area Downtown Wilmington is a MUST! From the Riverwalk to tons of locally owned shops and eateries, you won’t run out of things to do! Two of my favorite places downtown are the bookstores: Old Books on Front Street and Papercut Books. Both are a mix of new and pre-owned books, and they’re both so fun! I could spend hours in both of these bookstores. Downtown also has coffee shops, a candle store, a Christmas shop, tons of unique small businesses, and so much more. I would recommend dedicating an entire day to exploring downtown!

MISSIO Hair | Product with Purpose

MISSIO Hair | Product with Purpose

MISSIO, a hair product company with a bigger purpose launched in 2017. Founder Lorin, along with her husband Kyle, created stylist-designed and salon-tested hair products to serve as a vehicle to educate salons and people in the beauty industry on victim identification and mobilize stylists in beauty initiatives. Through MISSIO they serve women who are victims are human trafficking and give to non-profit partners who are fighting human trafficking worldwide.

They currently have a lineup of 8 haircare products and three candles that they have created. All of the hair products are safe for color-treated hair, cruelty-free, and work on many different hair types!

The Products I Picked Up

Lorin was sweet enough to gift my sister and me one product while we were there, but I picked up several others, too!

  • Glossing Conditioner – Lightweight Moisture: This is perfect for my fine hair!
  • Coconut Cleansing Powder: I love a good dry shampoo. Although this is not specifically made for darker hair, it still works great!
  • Styling Spray: This is a heat protectant, gives your hair texture and volume, and provides a gorgeous shine. Love, love, love!
  • Styling Cream: This can be used as a curl cream for hair with a natural curl, controls frizz, adds volume, and provides thermal protection. This and the styling cream are my go-to’s!
  • Texture Paste: My husband and I both use and love this! The texture paste gives you hold and texture and has a matte finish.

While we were there Lorin talked to us about MISSIO, what inspired her to start the company, and about her passion for helping those who are victims of human trafficking. She styled my hair with a gorgeous half-up fishtail braid and added some curls in. It turned out GORGEOUS. I wish I could have her style my hair every day!
